Astroport hovers among the stars as a neutral marketplace for traders throughout the Cosmoverse. Originally launched on Terra Classic, it’s currently deployed on Terra 2 as well. Today, the protocol expands dramatically with its first-ever testnet deployment on a non-Terra blockchain: Injective.
Injective dramatically expands appchains with the first sector-specific blockchain that’s explicitly focused on finance. With 1-second blocktimes and the ability to support as many as 25,000 transactions per second, Injective aims to become the DeFi hub within the Cosmoverse.
As an open interoperable smart contracts platform built on Cosmos SDK, Injective supports CosmWasm and comes with out-of-the-box modules including a decentralized orderbook. Devs can use this L1 as a base to build a diverse array of sophisticated financial dapps.
Astroport’s testnet deployment on Injective marks the first of three phases:
- Testnet and early-access testing
- Community-wide testing
- Mainnet deployment
Today’s deployment also coincides with a fully-redesigned testnet user interface (UI) on Astroport.fi with more advanced charts, a new navigation menu and a cleaner design. Upon mainnet launch, Astroport users will have the ability to swap assets directly on Injective including:
- ApeCoin (APE)
- Astroport (ASTRO)
- Injective (INJ)
- USD Coin (USDC)
Astroport users will also be able to take advantage of Injective’s interoperable network, swapping assets from not only Cosmos or Ethereum, but also from Solana, Aptos, and Avalanche through Injective’s recent Wormhole integration. Users can access Wormhole to bridge assets to Injective via the Injective Bridge. Then, they can create liquidity pools on Astroport, which anyone can trade against.
Upon mainnet launch, Astroport’s governing body, the Astral Assembly, can also propose connecting the Injective deployment to Astroport’s Terra 2 instance for cross-chain governance and ongoing fee sharing.
Note that both the testnet and mainnet deployments will have little impact on Astroport’s existing functionality. Traders throughout the galaxy can visit Astroport.fi, select their preferred network (Terra 2, Terra Classic and soon Injective mainnet) and begin swapping and LP’ing with the new UI.
This deployment marks a major milestone for Astroport as its maiden voyage beyond the Terra galaxy. Testnet access is initially limited to a specific whitelist before opening to the general public in approx. one week. Keep your comms channels open for info on testnet access and the upcoming mainnet launch.
